Croatian citizens see the ideal woman as employed housewife

zaposlena

Croatian citizens see the ideal woman as employed housewife, especially in Lika, Kordun, Banovina (50 percent), then in northern Croatia (48 percent) and Dalmatia (43 percent), and this percentage is the lowest in Slavonia and Zagreb (about 33 per cent).

As shown in GfK survey, a successful businesswoman who builts her career is yet again in second place and is wanted primarily by Istrians, Slavonians and young people aged 18-24 years (43 percent) and those with university graduates (49 percent). The role of women only as mother / housewife choose primarily men (23 percent), older than 55 years (26-40 percent) and people with the lowest educational qualifications (65 percent). On the other hand, only 8 percent  of highly educated man prefer such role of the women.
Research has shown that only one fifth of women surveyed rate themselves as successful business woman, more than the average are represented by the respondents in Zagreb and Dalmatia (25 percent), unmarried (33 percent), highly educated (45 percent), women with a personal monthly income of 7,000 kuna or more (38-82 percent) and women generally in cities with more than 100 000 inhabitants (27 percent) and aged between 18 and 34 years (29-34 percent).

Conclusion of GfK survey is that the status of women in our society does not record fast or rapid positive changes. In real life, women are increasingly employed (by participating in the creation of a significant portion of GDP), they gradually become a manager, investors, but policiy only modestly opens its doors so significant changes are yet to come.

This research was conducted in July on a representative sample of Croatian citizens older than 15 years (n = 1000).
