Women are discriminated, but the future is theirs

nobel2

In Croatia, women predominate in the register of unemployed, they earn less and have higher risk of long-term unemployment than men, but trends in education show that their position will improve in the future, according to an analysis of the situation of women in the labor market.

Age and education significantly affect the activity of women. This is particularly true for older women, whose participation in the labor market is significantly lower than for men (41.5 percent compared to 23.9 percent), and their level of education compared to men is much lower.
Research has shown that the choice of education strongly affects the employment of women. In this area, women are disadvantaged because the educational areas in which women show the most interest are characterized by low-rights and discrimination in relation to men. Thus, unpaid housework is predominantly done by women and women are still above average represented in some sectors, such as work-related care and care (welfare, health) and jobs that require lower level skills.

There are also areas where women have a higher employment rate than men, but small part of the female population chooses them. One such area is the statistics and mathematics, particularly where women have high levels of employment in an amount of up to 89.5 percent. Higher levels of employment have women with qualifications in biological sciences, computer science, health and social welfare, foreign language, education and computer use.
